As many of you know Col. Joseph J. McLachlan, who served as Vice Commander of the Base in Zaragoza, was an ardent supporter of our ZHS community.
He attended our Reunions in Tallahassee and Oklahoma City, and proudly made the first toast at the Dinner-Dances at those events.
His failing health prevented his attending the Colorado Springs Reunion, but the first toast was made in his behalf by his son Michael.
It is with much saddness that I advise you that Col. Mac passed away Thursday, July 28th.
I further regret having to tell you that at virtually the same moment his eldest child Joe (ZHS '64) was killed in an automobile accident. Each passed away unaware of the other's passing. May they rest in peace.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Nadine McLachlan and our Zebra classmates -- Mike (64), Peggy (67), Tom (67) and Patty (70).
Here is funeral information for Col. McLaughlin.
